October 11, 2017 By Biman B

If you are running an e-commerce site on Magento you might be experiencing that it is bit slow than the other platforms. Are you preparing to quit Magento? No, if you are running a solution with huge number of products Magento is the ultimate solution. But how can you solve the speed issue of your store. You might be losing a portion of your customers due to slow speed of the store. Don’t worry, I will help you to solve this issue.

a) Cache installation:

Varnish or redis cache can help you to speed up you store. Do install Varnish or Redis. Varnish is an HTTP accelerator which will accelerate the speed of your store by caching some information and relieving the server work. Redis is a datastructure store which will also cache information and make your server load less.

b) Image optimization:

High resolution images consumes lot of loading time slowing down the server. If you are using hundreds of high resolution images then you can imagine how it will affect the store. So you can do one thing, use little bit of low resolution images which will consume less bandwidth.

c) Otimization of code:

It is one of the most important thing to do in your store. Some times we left so much of redundant code which are not performing tasks but unnecessarily paying a load on server. You can remove these codes. And remove the modules which are deactivated. Do not keep unncesssary modules on admin panel.

d) Replace Apache with Nginx:

Both servers are good. But when it comes to performance Nginx is faster is processing static contents. In dynamic data processing both are at same level. But you can consider Niginx over Apache with one advantage of static content processing.

e) Update your version:

If you are using an old version of Magento then you should update it. You will see result and better user experience. Now Magento version 2 is available and you can move to it. This will definitely boost the speed of your store.

f) Use CDN for heavy database:

It is better you use CDN if your store has a huge database of products, images and videos etc. Using CDN will definitely release much pressure on your server.
